All City Parks Closed Today for Bad Weather

If you’re in Verona, today’s the day to stay inside. All city parks and many publicly available tourism spots won’t be available to visit, and the ones you still can visit won’t be much fun unless you like getting wet! The Roads and Gardens Sector of the Municipality of Verona, has decided to close all city parks and playgrounds on Sunday, June 9, 2024, due to adverse weather conditions. Forecasts indicate very intense thunderstorms and strong winds, particularly from the afternoon onwards.

“According to the latest bulletin,” Amia notes, “the storms will be extremely localized, but where they occur, there is the potential for severe phenomena. The dangers include strong wind gusts exceeding 70 km/h, medium to large hailstorms, and heavy rainfall in short intervals.”

As a precaution, the city parks will be closed on Sunday, June 9. This closure might extend to Monday, June 10, if detailed inspections reveal any damage to structures and trees. This decision, will depend entirely on the severity of the weather events and the areas affected.

Veneto Region Weather Bulletin – June 8, 2024

The Civil Protection of Veneto has issued a new notice, valid from 2 pm on Saturday, June 8, until 2 pm on Sunday, June 9. This notice extends the state of attention for thunderstorms in the Adige-Garda and Monti Lessini, Po, Fissero-Tartaro-CanalBianco, and Basso Adige, Basso Brenta – Bacchiglione basins. The state of attention is due to the persistent high levels along the Adige river, with specific critical issues in the embankment body affecting the downstream section of Boara Pisani (PD).

Today, local precipitation is expected, occasionally scattered, with showers and some thunderstorms in mountain and foothill areas. There is a low probability of precipitation on the internal plains and almost no phenomena on the coastal areas. Intense phenomena in mountainous areas cannot be ruled out.

Tomorrow, Arpav’s forecasts indicate mostly absent phenomena in the morning, except for some mountain showers. In the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are expected to begin in the western areas, spreading to the rest of the region in the evening. The probability of precipitation will be medium-high (50-70%) across all areas, with possible locally intense phenomena from the afternoon/evening.
