Did Romeo & Juliet bring you to Verona? Love Shakespeare?
To celebrate Shakespeare on the 400th anniversary of his death, this year, through a collaboration between the Municipality of Verona, Skenè Center (University of Verona), and Teatro Stabile del Veneto – Teatro Nazionale, Verona is putting on the Verona Shakespeare Fringe Festival! Started in 2020, the festival has been part of the Estate Teatrale Veronese since 2022. The festival goal is to explore and celebrate how Shakespeare’s work continues to shape our collective imagination.
At the Verona Shakespeare Fringe, art and research find their match, creating a vibrant exchange of ideas within an international setting. This event serves as a window into how theatre and Shakespearean studies should evolve, promoting inclusive, multicultural visions. From August 22 to 29, at 9:00 p.m. daily, Teatro Camploy is hosting eight performances that bring Shakespeare’s work to life through new and exciting reinterpretations.
