Where to find Free WiFi in Verona, Italy

If you’re anything like me, you can’t stay at home too long before you start to crave human interaction. While I love the freedom of working remote, I do miss the every day interactions and conversations that come with the office life. So wherever in the word I am, I’m always looking for free WiFi areas to hang out and work. But the thing about finding free WiFi in Italy is, is that Italians don’t tend to hang out in the same places that Americans do. While in America you can just go to any coffee shop, buy a $5 drink, and hang out for a couple hours, it’s not the case here. In Italy, coffee is traditionally taken standing at the bar, and it only takes a few minutes. Some people may sit and visit with friends over a pastry, but generally coffee is an in-and-out affair.

And that’s exactly why I’ve decided to share this guide on where to find free WiFi in Verona. I want to recommend a few apps that will make life easier, but don’t forget to read to the bottom, because there’s a few great places to work too depending on how long you need to hang out!

Verona SmartApp: Verona Free WiFi

First and foremost, download the Verona SmartApp. This is a free app created and built by the City of Verona that allows you to connect to all the free Wifi in Verona provided by the city itself. And there is actually quite a bit. If you’re in any of the main tourist areas, from Piazza Bra, Piazza Erbe, or Porto Nuovo, you’ll be covered. Additionally, the free Wifi is available in all the municipality museums. This is part of a greater initiative to turn Verona into a “Smart City”. This free WiFi across Verona has been a lifesaver for many tourists, but also for those of us who live here. The bandwidth is pretty good as well. Keep in mind, you probably aren’t going to be doing any streaming or downloading movies during peak tourist hours, but otherwise it’s pretty sufficient for anything that you would realistically be doing in a coffee shop back home!

To connect for free, just download the app on your Apple or Android Device, and select the network: (( freewifi@verona )). Make sure to register when you download the app (registration is free).

WiFi Mapp App

This is a must-have app for me in general when traveling, and it’s extremely useful for finding free WiFi in Verona. It’s exactly what it sounds like, an app that tracks all publicly available WiFi, and the quality of that WiFi, in every decently sized city in the world. There is a premium version that offers services like a VPN and an e-SIM as well for $35 a year, but for just looking for WiFi in Verona, the free version is fine.

One of the features I really like about this app is the ability to download offline maps. Because what good is an app that will find you free WiFi, if you don’t have the internet to access it? Here’s a screenshot of what the WiFi Map App looks like while finding you free Verona WiFi below:

This app is also available on both platforms and the links to download are below!

Our Favorite Spots for Free WiFi in Verona

The above two apps are great, and they will absolutely be your best tools in finding free WiFi around Verona. However, while they can tell you where WiFi is, and even how strong the WiFi is, they don’t exactly tell you how it is being there. Some places may have free WiFi, but not be super happy about you setting up a laptop and actually working there for a couple hours. And that’s fine! It’s their business and if they want those tables for more customers, who are we to tell them otherwise. However, if we’re trying to find some WiFi to get some work done, we do need the type of place that will let us hang out for a while. So, this is my list of where you can do exactly that, and be welcomed doing it!

Ammazza Caffé – Craft Tonics & Specialty Coffee

My favorite place to hang out with a coffee and a laptop for a couple hours is absolutely Ammazza Caffe. First, the coffee they make is abolsutely amazing, and they have several different blends to choose from. As someone who really appreciates his coffee, this is just as important to me as the actual WiFi. Second, the owner Jacopo is about the nicest guy you’ll ever meet, and a great wealth of information for things to do and places to see in Verona. And third (which is the point of this article), the WiFi is great and there are usually several people with laptops working every time I’ve been. It’s the perfect place to grab a coffee (or a beer, or wine, or pastrys), and settle down with free WiFi in Verona to get some work done.

Caffé Walner

This is my go-to spot on a nice day where I want to enjoy some fresh air, a sweet bite to eat, and get some quick work done. Located right at Piazza Bra, Caffe Walner is famous for it’s immense selection of pastries and it’s delicious gelato. It has amble indoors and outdoors seating, with the outdoors seating giving great views of the historic city centre. And because it’s located right in the middle of the Verona Smartapp free wifi, it’s a perfect place to hang out for an hour or so and use some free WiFi in Verona. This isn’t a place I would stay all day, it does have high tourist traffic they cater to after all, but it’s a nice change of pace when you want to be in the middle of things. Plus, who doesn’t love being able to sample an endless variety of Italian pastries while they work?

Know of more Free Wifi in Verona Spots?

These are our two favorite apps and two favorite spots to get some work done, but we’d love to hear where you got some work done and found a cool place to chill on some free wi-fi while you were here! Make sure to comment down below where you like to go, and we’ll go check it out for ourselves! We may even add it to the article and you’ll end up helping other visitors to Verona. Of course, no saying your hotel room, that’s cheating!
