Run4Hope Comes to Verona in its Fight Against Cancer

The Run4Hope initiative is back, traveling Italy to aid the Italian Association against Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma (AIL) in its fight against cancer! Tomorrow (April 13, 2024) marks the commencement of its fourth edition, with a simultaneous start at 11 am across all Italian regions. Participants will run approximately ten kilometers in each cities route, in sync with others all across Italy. This collective effort will chart a course through Italy’s most picturesque and significant locales, culminating on April 21.

The inaugural stage, commencing from Vicenza, will conclude in Verona’s Piazza Bra at 6 pm. Afterwards, the run will continue from Verona-Monteforte D’Alpone to Bassano del Grappa on Sunday.

Every day, a set route will be given to local runners (an estimated 40,000 people across all of Italy), for them to run the route together, and contribute to the fundraising ability of Run4Hope. Throughout Italy, over 400 sports associations, numerous army units, segments of the Italian Referees Association, and the Paralympic Defense Sports Group are all lending their support.

The Verona leg of this event was introduced at Palazzo Barbieri by city councilor Annamaria Molino, alongside president Massimo Giammetta, Antonio Capriati, 85th commander Rav Verona Nicola Castello, and Fiorenza Martinelli from Ail.

“The event is part of the vision of the Municipality of Verona, which has joined the Healthy Cities Network and which is active in promoting initiatives in favor of the well-being of the population, especially the most fragile ones,” declared councilor Molino. “This race is particularly important and extraordinary because, at a national level, it involves numerous supporters, networking together to support a fundraiser in favor of patients with haematological tumors. To do this, sport was chosen which, in addition to being the bearer of messages of solidarity, is evidence of how physical activity brings benefits to health in all its forms.”

The Run4Hope project showcases how sports not only benefit individual and collective health but also bring people together to raise crucial funds for research and patient assistance. Supported by various sporting and institutional bodies, Run4Hope has widespread national backing.
